G eneral S tructure

The University Eye Hospital Tⁿbingen has three departments, each chaired by a Medical Director and Professor.The board is chaired by the Executive Director (Prof. Dr. E. Zrenner). Attached to the departments are Sections, devoted to ophthalmic research, each Section being headed by an Associate Professor.

Structure:

Dept. I : General Ophthalmology, Anterior Segment (Prof. Dr. H.-J. Thiel)

Section on Experimental Ophthalmic Surgery (Prof. Dr. B. Jean)
Section on the Regeneration and Degeneration of the Visual System (N.N.)

Dept. II : Pathophysiology of Vision and Neuroophthalmology (Prof. Dr. E. Zrenner)

Section on Eye Motlility (Prof. Dr. V. Herzau)

Division on Experimental Ophthalmology (Prof. Dr.E. Zrenner)

Section on the Visual Sensory System (Prof. Dr. M. Fahle)

Dept. III: Retina- and Vitreous Surgery (ProfDr. I. Kreissig)

The hospital has 110 beds, 18 fellows, 28 residents and altogether 244 employees. The research sections are accomodated in special research buildings, supplied by external Grants, working on particular research projects .
